Functions of muscles:
· Produce heat
· Produce movement
· Maintain posture
Three types of muscle tissues:
· Skeletal (voluntary)
· Smooth (involuntary)
· Cardiac (involuntary)
Muscular disorders:
1. Fibrositis- inflammation of connective tissue
2. Muscular dystrophy- deterioration of muscle tissue that progresses over time
3. Hematoma – a blood-filled swollen are; a goose-egg caused by bleeding under the tissues
4. Myositis Ossificans- a condition in which bones form in in and replace muscle tissue as a result of trauma
5. Contusion- a soft tissue injury caused by seepage of blood into tissue; a bruise
