Medical Emergencies.
Sometimes, there are medical emergencies in a school or workplace. Below are some of the more common conditions that could cause a medical emergency.
Asthma

Asthma is a disorder that causes the airways of the lungs to swell and narrow. Signs and symptoms include wheezing, chest tightness, coughing, and shortness of breath. To treat an asthma attack, use the victim's inhaler and have them take two puffs over the span of two minutes.
Allergic Reactions

An allergic reaction is a hypersensitivity reaction to a particular allergen. The signs and symptoms of an allergic reaction depend on what the victim is allergic to. When treating most allergic reactions, the victim should have an epinephrine pen near by. This sends adrenaline throughout the body during an attack.
Heart Attack

A myocardial infarction, or heart attack, occurs when blood flow to part of your heart is blocked long enough to get damaged or die. Signs and symptoms of a heart attack include a tight chest, heavy breathing, heavy pressure or squeezing, and bad indigestion. To treat a heart attack, first call 911, then begin performing CPR if the victim becomes unconscious.
Fainting

Fainting occurs when a victim loses consciousness and results in a decreased blood flow to the brain. To treat someone who has fainted, call 911, then try to wake them up. You must first ensure they are safe from hazards and you as a rescuer are safe too.
Diabetes and Low Blood Sugar

Diabetes is a disease in which there are high levels of sugar in the blood. If the body suddenly loses sugar, the victim may become shaky, sweaty, and weak. To treat diabetes and low blood sugar, have the victim calm down and give them something sweet to eat and drink.
Stroke

A stroke occurs when there is not enough blood flow to the brain. Signs and symptoms of a stroke include a droopy face, numbness on one side of the victim's body, dizziness, and loss of balance. To treat a stroke, call 911 and try to keep the victim conscious.
Seizure

Seizures are caused by abnormal electrical discharges in the brain. The victim begins convulsing, so it is apparent to protect their head. Symptoms of a seizure vary from person to person, but some common signs and symptoms include jerking, fainting, and dizziness.
Shock

Shock may result from trauma, heatstroke, blood loss, an allergic reaction, severe infection, poisoning, severe burns or other causes. Signs and symptoms of shock include rapid pulse, cool skin, and dilated pupils.
